We Happy Few from Compulsion the creators of Contrast has been successfully funded via its Kickstarter campaign which set out to raise CA $250k ($201,353 US). With 4 days still remaining on the campaign, attentions turn to how far they can get beyond their funding target and target their stretch goals.
The game which takes place in a dystopian city set in 1960’s England sees the masses living a lie by taking a drug called Joy which causes the taker to forget any bad memories from their past.
In the game, you play as a “downer”, someone who doesn’t take the Joy pills, trying to make their way through the city to escape the dystopia without being recognised as someone who doesn’t conform and in turn get beaten to within an inch of your life.
We Happy Few is targeting release on PC with a potential release on console following. Depending on how far funding reaches will dictate whether the game sees a Steam Early Access release or whether funding carries them through the polish stage of development.
