According to the official Need for Speed Twitter account, the Need for Speed reboot requires an online connection. However, the same Tweet tried to calm the obvious coming backlash by saying “the benefits are nice”

It is likely that some of the connection will be integration with Need for Speed’s Autolog which has been a feature in the previous releases.
Need for Speed will be releasing later this year on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Expect more news and videos for Need for Speed coming out of E3 2015 which starts 16th June.
