When installing Windows on your machine you are asked to provide a username which the whole system uses to keep your files separate to other people in your household. However, when you chose your username did you think it could prevent you from installing games?
Probably not but that is what is currently happening to Grand Theft Auto V which released on PC today.
If you set up your Windows account using special characters (anything outside of A-Z and 0-9) then you will have troubles installing Rockstar’s latest PC release. Rockstar have confirmed that they are working on an update already but it is surprising such a basic QA verification check was missed or waived during development.
If you don’t want to wait for an update, you can create a new Administrator account on your PC through Control Panel using only letters and numbers and install the game that way, Rockstar even provided a guide on how to do just that.
