Chinese games developer, Lilith Games is taking US studio uCool to court claiming that uCool’s Heroes Charge is actually a clone of Lilith Games’ title Soul Clash.
Xinwen Wang, CEO of Lilith Games gave a statement
Heroes Charge is so identical to Soul Clash in the rules, the character set, and even the user interface that we assume it could have been created by decompiling the source code of our original game
Lilith Games backed up their claim by providing screenshots of both games. Soul Clash at the top and Heroes Charge at the bottom.
However, in a twist, Blizzard is suing Lilith Games for “violation of copyright laws and trademark laws” after spotting similarities between DOTA Legend (Turret Legend) and its own World of Warcraft universe.
Paul Sams, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Blizzard Entertainment said
We strongly believe that DotA Legend infringes on our Warcraft and World of Warcraft copyrights and trademarks, and we are aggressively pursuing our options under the law to protect our content,
Sword and Tower, DOTA Legends, Soul Clash and All Star Heroes all share scary similarities to each other.
