A PlayStation 4 player of Bungie’s Destiny learned a tough lesson this week after having two high level characters and an exotic weapon deleted from his account. The kid known as Cuckooknight HD allowed access to his account through the PS4’s SharePlay function which basically gives full control to a remote player. That player, KirmitTHEfrog had promised Cuckooknight HD he would help boost his characters through a glitch in Destiny, that isn’t exactly what happened.
As Cuckooknight HD leaves his seat, KirmitTHEfrog takes the opportunity to delete a level-31 Warlock and a level-26 Titan. He then proceeds to the remaining character, a level-23 Hunter and dismantles an exotic Plan C Fusion Rifle just as Cuckooknight HD returns. Cuckooknight HD tries to put a brave face on it by thanking Kirmit after severing the remote connection for dismantiling the weapon before realising two of his high level characters were gone, at which point you can hear the sobbing start.

Bungie says it is looking into ways it can “make regrettable deletions like these less permanent,” but no further information has been released.
The thing to learn from these events, don’t give SharePlay control to someone you don’t know and don’t try to glitch a game just to get ahead.
