A number of Origin users across the Internet have reported seeing purchases on their accounts that they didn’t expect or approve. A representative from EA has reported there is no sign of a hack that would cause such behaviour.
An EA representative provided a response to Kotaku
We found no indication at this point of a breach of our Origin account database. Privacy and security of user account information are of the utmost importance to us. We encourage our players to use Origin user ID and passwords that are unique to their account and to report any activity they feel may be unauthorized to EA customer support at help.ea.com.
A thread sprung up on reddit under /r/Games with people discussing the situation – http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/2qtcxc/a_lot_of_origin_users_are_being_charged_for_games/ where a number of posts praise EA for their quick resolution and promoting two-step authentication on your accounts.
Origin users should visit their account to ensure they have no purchases they weren’t expecting by visiting – http://www.origin.com and selecting MY ACCOUNT>ORDER HISTORY
Also, consider enabling two-step authentication on your account at – https://account.origin.com/ and enable LOGIN VERIFICATION user the SECURITY tab.
