Angry Birds developer, Rovio, has confirmed that it is to lay off an estimated 110 staff and closed one of its studios. This is 20 less than their previously estimated 130 lay offs after new positions were found for some of the estimated employees that would have been affected. The estimated cuts account for 16% of Rovio’s workforce.
The studio in question is based in Tampere, southern Finland will be shut to consolidate the company’s Finnish operations in a single location in Espoo.
Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said
It is never easy to consider changes like this, but it is better to do them sooner rather than later, when we are in a good place to reignite growth.
