Some American shoppers have taken the idea of price matching a step further than it’s intended purpose. According to Kotaku, some are creating fake listings for PlayStation 4 consoles on Amazon and using this as their price match competitor. Unsuspecting Walmart employees aren’t checking the source material thoroughly and are offering the customer a discounted console.
Amazon do pull down fraudulent listings but by that time it is potentially too late to save Walmart from missing out on a few hundred dollars of sale.
Excited with their low cost purchase, some took to Twitter to brag about their haul.

Expect Walmart to tighten its policy on price matching to only include certain retailers, whether Walmart will follow up with those who took up the unofficial offer is unknown.
