We know that Google took great interest in acquiring Twitch before the Amazon deal was announced but what happened to the rumoured $1 bullion deal? According to an article on Forbes the deal was all but done but according to people close to the deal, Google was concerned about potential anti-trust issues that could have come with the acquisition.
As Google already owns YouTube which comes with it’s own live streaming service the idea that anti-trust laws could cause the service to be split was a concern on both sides. Forbes cited one source as saying that because of the concerns, Google and Twitch could not come to an agreement on the size of a potential breakup fee in case the deal did not go through.
