Mario upgrades to a Mercedes in Mario Kart 8 in an update due for release on the 27th August.
- Mercedes-Benz GLA
- 1950’s 300 SL Roadster
- 1930’s Silver Arrow
Between the 27th August and 23rd September, Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz will also host an online worldwide “Mercedes Cup” tournament. All competitors need is a Wii U console, Mario Kart 8 game, a broadband Internet connection and the Mercedes-Benz karts. Access to the “Mercedes Cup” in the game can be found in the online tournament section.
The update not only brings some new Merc wheels but adds some additional features:
- Drivers will now have the option to display the course map on the TV screen during races.
- The cursor for the menu that appears after each racer will default to the same option users selected last time. The current default setting is on “Watch Highlight Reel.”
- The game will remember the most recent kart options that were selected, even if the Wii U system was powered down.
- Users will be able to change options of other players’ Mario Kart TV downloaded highlight reels, such as changing the focus to different characters or actions.
Nintendo are also releasing Super Mario Kart for Virtual Console on Wii U to coincide with the Mario Kart 8 update.
