Microsoft has clarified some of the biggest news out of Gamescom, that Rise of Tomb Raider would be Xbox exclusive. Phil Spencer confirmed the exclusivity “has a duration” but did not confirm how long that duration was for.
During the Gamecom press conference, Microsoft and Square Enix made the announcement that Rise of the Tomb Raider would launch holiday 2015 exclusively on XboxOne and Xbox 360.
Spencer’s comments confirm that Crystal Dynamics is free to do whatever it wants with the new Lara Croft title and the franchise after the exclusivity deal ends, including releasing it on other platforms.
