According to Chart-Track, the PlayStation 4 beat the previous record held for the last eight years by Sony’s PlayStation Portable, by selling 185,000 consoles in 24 hours.
Call of Duty: Ghosts topped the software chart followed by FIFA 14 which dropped to second. Battlefield 4 came in third and PlayStation 4 exclusive, Killzone Shadow Fall made it to fourth place.
The remaining top 10 titles were made up of Assassin’s Creed 4, LEGO MARVEL Super Heroes, GTA 5, Need for Speed: Rivals, Just Dance 2014 and Batman: Arkham Origins.
PlayStation 4 beat Xbox One, which launched on 22nd November, and its predecessor PlayStation 3. PlayStation 4 sold 250,000 units in the UK over the launch weekend. That’s around 100,000 more than Xbox One sold over its launch weekend.
